Islam in Africa in Global Context: Postdoctoral Associate Announcement

The University of Florida, with a grant from the Henry Luce Foundation’s Initiative on Religion in International Affairs, will appoint a postdoctoral associate to begin August 16, 2018. This is a one year position to work within the project “Islam in Africa in Global Context.” The postdoctoral associate will be affiliated with the Department of Religion, the Center for Global Islamic Studies, and the Center for African Studies.

This position is responsible for: 1) helping to organize and participate in activities (workshops, institutes, and symposia) around the project’s central themes related to Islam in Africa in global context; 2) teaching one semester-long undergraduate class in the spring semester determined in consultation with the project director and relevant department; and 3) pursuing a program of independent scholarship on Islam in Africa in global context.

Applicants in the humanities and social sciences are welcome to apply. The final candidate must have a PhD by 1 July 2018.
