Religion matters. Religion news matters. Every single day a new religion headline hits the press — on blogs and online news agencies, television and in print.
And so, there are serious matters to consider when it comes to reporting religion news. Why should we report on religion news? What are the best practices? How do religion reporters approach such a sensitive topic with balance and critical perspective.
#UFreligion’s “Religion and the News” Spring 2016 class have been wrestling with these questions all semester long. Considering the production and consumption of religion news writing, commentary, and analysis students were recently asked to write an op-ed blog on any topic of their choice. This week at the #UFreligion “Religion and Culture” blog we will be sharing some of their work.
